Köln

A group of 8 of us ventured to Köln (Cologne) for a long weekend..

We were there for the beginning of their carnival season which starts on the 11/11 at 11.11am.

They have the right area of having a carnival season for 3 months over winter to help them get over the darkness and coldness...

They had some cool decorations....

And they all were in fancy dress....and having a good time....

The only down point I can see is the idea that they like to drop all their glass bottles straight onto the pavement! After a few hours you were walking on glass...everywhere!!!

Have they not heard of rubbish bins? At least some people found a shopping trolley....

And I think this clown might have had a bit too much to drink....at least he found a rubbish bin and a bit of an audience...

And I do like the way some of the bars chill the glasses...and at least the beer glass size is a lot smaller than Oktoberfest!!

Food wise: great bakeries, alot of sausages, pickled herring and yummy frites and mayo (it tastes so good as it has like 70g of fat in it...hmmmmm...so creamy).....

The only strange site was when walking through their old town you will find all these blue pipes.

One could understand if it was to deliver the city with their beer - Kolsch but alas it is for another liquid - their ground water. Bit of an eye sore but pretty crazy....they just placed them everywhere and anywhere.

All in all a fun weekend...no more holidays now till the new year....bummer dude!
